Farr Yachts

Bruce Faar, of Auckland New Zealand, designed and established a design company specialising in yachts. Over the course in the early 1970s, boats the Farr designed won the 18-ft title of the Skiff Giltinan World. Bruce Farr has also been concentrating on the construction of sailboats in full since 1973.

Farr Yacht Design company is situated in Annapolis in the United States of America.

The yachts measure between 25 and 125 feet (38 m) in length. Customised yachts, including interior and sails, and hull designs, are built by the Farr Yacht Design company. With tanks and wind tunnels, along with external research and development, Farr build some of the best sailing boats and racing yachts in the world. Yachts from Farr have won and have been well-positioned in a wide variety of races including America's Cup

Farr Yacht Features

Mainly, the features of the yachts designed by Faar are: light displacement, fractional rig, and large sterned, shallow shouldered boats. Several of the new designs by Bruce Farr looked relatively shovel-like, with low hills, wide sterns, and slight changes. The effect is a quicker and more efficient sailing yacht compared to conventional yacht models. More and more developers have adopted such designs over most of the decades. Instances of this pattern are the new Volvo Open 70 class yachts.

Farr Yacht Design have designed a range of yachts in the Volvo line including Volvo open 70, the Volvo Oceans 60, as well as the Whitbread 60 rules, in addition to one concept yacht (table) for Volvo Ocean Race (as formerly Whitbread) teams. In the 2014-15 and 2017-18 edition of the race, the company made Volvo Ocean 65.

For their sailing lines of output, Farr designs have been commissioned by significant yacht manufacturers, including Bavaria Yachtbau and Beneteau. This includes the Vision and Cruiser lines of Bavaria and the first line of Beneteau. Farr Yacht Design has also built for racing under the IRC (sailing) and international measurement system classification GP42 and TP52 (yacht).

Farr Yacht Design have also created several designs under rules TP 52(yacht ) and GP 42 under IRC(sailing), which is an International system rating measurements.
