Havana Houseboats

Introduction

Havana Houseboats are redefining the genre: providing houseboats that feature not only spacious, comfortable accommodation options, but an unparalleled degree of sophistication and contemporary design. The Queensland based company is a subsidiary of the experimental architecture firm technoPODS. With a focus on sustainable design, technoPODS are shifting the architectural paradigm by designing custom built structures – from tiny houses to house boats – that break the conventional expectations. The range of waterbound structures from technoPODS range from one bedroom floating pods to large, liveable structures spanning across two stories. While houseboats have traditionally lacked architectural elegance, the Havana G52 (the definitive houseboat design from Havana Houseboats) is harnessing the architectural features which add appeal to coastal apartments, and combining them with functional vessel design to create a beautiful and mobile contemporary waterside home.

The Havana G52

With multiple levels featuring tasteful and elegant interior design, the Havana G52 is a luxury apartment on the water. Glass panels make up ninety percent of the exterior, allowing sunlight to flood through onto the sleek marble fittings and upscale designer furnishings. The master bedroom features a king size bed and expansive wardrobe, with an en-suite bathroom complete with rainfall showers and twin basins. The guest room is furnished to a similarly high standard, with a queen size bed and luxury marble-tiled en-suite.

The expertly designed galley features a five-burner gas cooker, microwave and electric oven, with expansive windows and stone worktops creating a designer kitchen aesthetic. The spacious saloon features a large 3D LED TV in front of far reaching windows.

The external moulded staircase leads to the upper deck and main entertaining area, complete with large gas barbecue, wet bar and sink, as well as a 1.4m LCD flat screen TV. Auto-sensing led lights throughout the vessel align with the company’s sustainability credentials, as does the gradual fuel consumption. Twin 60hp Mercury outboard engines power the vessel, and a bow thruster provides simple to handle manoeuvrability.

The Havana G52 carries 2,300 litres of water and 1,000 litres of fuel, facilitating weeks of cruising without the need to refuel.

This particular model was commissioned by an independent client, who went on to sell it and commission an even larger model from Havana Houseboats, after seeing the potential for spacious, designer waterside living. The sustainable design firm technoPODS are taking on commissions from private owners and the boat charter market for Havana Houseboats, with the range of smaller structures (known as waterPODS) also available for purchase or commission. Havana Houseboats are currently available in a range of sizes, from 38ft to 62ft, with a number of customisable features and design options.
