Winery Profile

Brand Profile Image

Byrne Vineyards produce many wines for domestic and global markets, this wine is one of the family.

The Byrne wine ranges express our family's dedication to the land and the highest quality estate grown wines with vineyards located in wine growing regions of Clare Valley and Riverland, South Australia. Rob Byrne, together with daughter Petria, are the family drivers behind the business started by Rob’s parents.

In 1960 Romla & Eric Byrne first purchased the property Devlin's Pound near Waikerie, in the Riverland, South Australia. Here began the passion for the Byrne Family with the first vines planted on this site in 1965. Although originally working as a Chartered Engineer, it was the wine industry that has become the passion for Director Rob Byrne. The philosophy is to grow quality fruit, whilst conserving our precious natural resources.

With a family history of three generations in the South Australian wine and horticultural industry, Byrne Vineyards is committed to maintaining environmental sustainability. Scotts Creek vineyard is located just outside the historical township of Morgan in the Riverland, South Australia. Established in 1974, under the direction of Australian Wine Industry pioneer Max Schubert, the site was selected for its stony soils over a limestone base, producing wines with immense character and complexity. The historic vineyard overlooks the Scotts Creek Wetlands.

Byrne is a recognised leader inenvironmental sustainability with its preservation efforts of the Scotts Creek Wetlands located on our property, adoption of Freshcare Code of Practice Environmental Viticulture, being the first in South Australia to have an accredited wetland management plan and permanent wetland water licence, adopting state of the art water technology that has allowed 240 million litres to be returned to the Murray Darling for increased environmental flows. The Scotts Creek Wetlands one of South Australia's largest natural wetland environments and home to many rare and endangered native flora and fauna.

Byrne Vineyards supply wines around the world to UK, Europe, Scandinavia, Japan, China, Asia, North America, New Zealand and Australia. www.byrnevineyards.com.au
