Medium-bodied with mouth filling and generous red and blue fruit on the mid palate. Smells of cherries, blueberries and blackberry jam with a whaft of white pepper. The integrated complex flavours are rich and lingering.

Monterra is a small batch,boutique winery that sources its fruit from an interconnected group of familyvineyards. With an emphasis on producing wines that speak of their time andplace, we pride ourselves on the biodiversity and sustainable practices thatare our bedrock.

We have a special bond withthe Hills and the Vale and claim it as our precious land.

Our winemaker Mike Farmilo isa former maker of Penfolds Grange, St Henri and Bin 707 and twice winner of theJimmy Watson Trophy. He has been making wine in McLaren Vale for over 30 yearsand is a legend of the industry. Following completion of his winemaking studiesat Roseworthy in 1977, Mike was the winemaker for Angoves in the late 70s -including winning a trophy with a Riverland Riesling in 1981. Following atenure at Seaview in the 1980’s Mike became Group Red winemaker forPenfolds/Southcorp – responsible for all Penfolds red wines including Grangeand St Henri, Lindeman’s wines, Seppelt’s, Wynns and Leo Buring. During his tenurewith Penfolds/Southcorp Mike won at least one trophy at every capital city wineshow every year and twice won the coveted Jimmy Watson trophy.
