Salena Estate is a family-owned company making premium wines that redefine the standards for quality and value.
At Salena Estate, the old winemaker’s maxim that “great wine is made in the vineyard” is taken to heart. To consistently achieve the highest quality fruit, the latest pruning, canopy management and other vineyard practices are undertaken to ensure optimum varietal expression from each and every harvest.
With significant vineyard plantings of 208 hectares (520 acres), varieties grown at Salena Estate include Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Merlot, Chardonnay, Colombard, Semillon and Riesling. Currently 100 hectares (250 acres) of Salena Estates vineyards are certified organic.
As a core element of our philosophy, Salena Estate endeavours to employ a “minimal intervention” approach to weed and pest control. In fact, such is the winery’s commitment to the environment that all vineyard management regimes will soon be in line with organic practices.
Fruit is harvested in the cool of the morning, when the grapes are in peak condition, before being quickly transferred to our modern winery, which is just minutes away on the same property.

Salena Estate is owned by Bob and Sylvia Franchitto. Although a relatively young wine company, their first vintage was produced only as recently as 1998. From the very start, Salena Estate’s objective was always to become recognised as a maker of world-class wines that represent great value in any market that they are presented. Salena Estate firmly believe in the old winemaker’s maxim that ‘the making of good wine starts in the vineyard’. To achieve consistently high quality fruit, the latest pruning, canopy management and other vineyard practises are undertaken to ensure the best possible varietal expression in the harvest. Vineyard plantings are of fairly significant size, at 208 hectares (520 acres).
