BEATLES STRAWBERRY FIELDS FOREVER - STRAWBERRY FIELD BRICK FRAGMENT
- Strawberry Field is a Victorian-age manor house in Liverpool, England. As the name suggests, it is also the inspiration for the 1967 Beatles single Strawberry Fields Forever. This specimen is a hand-cut fragment of that original manor house brick. The original house was torn down in 1973 and replaced due to structural issues, with a selection of bricks being auctioned to fund the restoration of the manor house. This hand-cut fragment is from one of these 1973 bricks, which would have once been a part of the home that Lennon sang about.
- Strawberry Field is a visitor attraction in the Liverpool suburb of Woolton that is owned and operated by the Salvation Army. It operated as a children`s home between 1936 and 2005. The house and grounds had originally been built as a private residence in the Victorian era, before being acquired by the Salvation Army in the 1930s. The house was demolished in 1973 due to structural problems and replaced with purpose-built units. After being closed as a children`s home, the site has continued to be used by the Salvation Army for other purposes.The location gained worldwide fame following the release of the Beatles` 1967 single ``Strawberry Fields Forever``. The song`s writer, John Lennon, had grown up nearby and played in the grounds of the home as a child.
- This brick fragment has been dated to the 1870`s.
- This piece is encased inside an acrylic specimen case that is presented within a glass-topped riker display case.
- Total item size: 110mm x 85mm x 20mm
- Provenance: From the private collection of a reputable collector, Sydney, NSW, Australia.
- Condition: This piece is extremely well preserved and remains in excellent condition - refer images.

EFT (Direct Deposit)
- For invoices totalling in excess of $10,000. Payment must be made in full within two business days of the auction closing.
