The Santos is the foundation of the modern wristwatch — Louis Cartier`s 1904 commission for aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont — and the WSSA0039 is the blacked-out expression of the current-generation Large model. The full-ADLC treatment across both case and bezel remains one of the scarcer configurations in the Santos line, and stealth-finish Cartier sport references have held consistent demand in the secondary market.

Monochromatic execution throughout: black ADLC case and bezel, black dial with applied Roman numerals, black steel sword hands. The exposed screws on the bezel — the signature Santos detail — read as texture rather than contrast in this finish. The crown is set with a faceted black synthetic spinel rather than Cartier`s usual blue sapphire cabochon, a detail specific to the blackened references.

Powered by the in-house Manufacture calibre 1847 MC, Cartier`s workhorse automatic, delivering approximately 40 hours of power reserve with antimagnetic protection from the movement`s construction. Water resistant to 100 metres.

Presented in excellent pre-owned condition, with minimal evidence of wear. ADLC coating is intact across case flanks, bezel and lug edges with no fade or breakthrough at the high-wear points.

Complete as delivered: original box and papers, both factory straps — the black rubber and the black alligator — each fitted with the QuickSwitch interchangeable system and the steel folding buckle. A certificate of authenticity accompanies the watch. Full-set
