1927 DENNIS Dennis 250 or Dennis-Tamini Light Pumper Petrol
The 1927 Dennis Fire Engine (commonly Referred To As The Dennis 250 Or Dennis-Tamini Light Pumper) Holds A Revered Place In Australian Emergency Service History.
Built By Dennis Brothers Limited In Guildford, UK, These Vehicles Became The Backbone Of Early Motorized Firefighting Across Australia, With The First Fleet Variants Arriving On Local Shores In 1927.
The Australian Setup:
- State Brigades, Such As The New South Wales Fire Brigade (NSWFB) And Western Australian Fire Brigade (WAFB), Imported The Bare Motorized Running Chassis Directly From The UK.
- The Timber And Steel Utility Bodywork Was Then Built Locally By Australian Coachbuilders To Meet Regional Demands.
The Turbine Pump: Its Defining Feature Was The Rear-mounted, Multi-stage Turbine Tamini Centrifugal Fire Pump (or Dennis’s Early In-house Clone Of The Design). This Setup Allowed The Lightweight Truck To Pump An Efficient 250 To 350 Gallons Of Water Per Minute.

Side Note: This Vehicle Was Used Throughout The Perth Royal Show Driving Around With A Swing Band On The Back Playing Jazz Music.
