McGuigan Short List Riesling 2004 (6 x 750mL) Eden Valley, SA

Description:

The fruit is sourced from a single vineyard in the Eden Valley and grown with care to ensure the high levels of fruit intensity. Unique winemaking techniques at our premium Barossa Valley winery complement the handcrafted approach to this wine. The early harvest of 2004 allowed us to capture and maintain freshness in this wine, but still keep some herbaceous overtones. Cool fermentation temperatures enhanced the fruit characters whilst the early bottling allowed the capture of the flavours. This wine has truly developed with ageing and is at its peak nowand over the next few years.

Expert Reviews

“The decision has been made to release [this wine] with at least five years‘bottle-age to present it with wonderfully mellow, developed character. It's full yellow in hue and smells of buttered toast and honey, with lime highlights. In the mouth it's deep, rich and generous, filling the palate yet retaining its refinement and delicacy. The finish is clean and dry without a hint of austerity. Wonderful balance and length. Now to five years plus. 96/ 100.Food -Asparagus grilled with grated parmesan, stuffed zucchini flowers, almost any fish simply grilled or pan-fried.” - Huon Hooke Good Living, Sydney Morning Herald, May 11 2010
