Expert Reviews

Matured for 15 months in a range of mostly larger-format new oak, predominantly French, though a good portion American as well. Patritti's own Blewitt Springs vineyard, with lean yields and lofty aims. Some new oak here suggests heavy oak influence on the wine, but while it's there, it's not overly dominant. There's a touch of coconut and vanilla on the finish perhaps, but it respects the energy of the fruit, which has a distinctive acidity and earthiness, with a coat of bright tannins to finish." Winery Tasting Notes

Notes Image

The colour is a deep almost black ruby red showing a slither of violet-purple on the hue. Aromatically the wine is complex and concentrated with plum, blue fruits and raspberries, complexed by struck rock, graphite and toasty oak. The full-bodied palate is driven and powerful; with even structure and long tannin line, oak is integrated with the blue and red fruits. Whilst enjoyable now this wine will cellar beautifully over the decades to come.
