Silver & 93 pts - Halliday Rating. There is a lot to like here with a distinctly contemporary take on a classic Barossa style that centres around fruit purity and pure drinkability. Super-ripe black cherry, blackberry and satsuma plum fruits, an array of spice, purple florals, licorice and kirsch tones, superfine sandy tannins and bright cadence, despite the opulence of the fruit. Matured for a period of 18 months in some new but predominantly older French Oak barriques. Magnificent colour saturation featuring an impenetrable inky black heart along with an equally deep black dark red hue. Engulfing the nostrils are potent scents of ripe blackberry, liquorice and dark plum infused with dried clove followed by some smoky vanillin cedar and peppered meat notes. Possessing a luxurious feel the full bodied palate is swamped with rich blackberry, liquorice and dark plum fruits which are complimented by an undercurrent of dried clove, smoky vanillin cedar, dried meats and peppered earth characters. Powerful and concentrated with velvet smooth tannins it finishes long, opulent and seductive.
