His global knowledge and experience has included an extensive exposure to the making of Shiraz. In addition to his experience with Shiraz in the Barossa , McLaren Vale, Langhornes Creek, Padthaway and Coonawarra he has made Shiraz in South Africa, the southern Rhone valley and St Joseph in France, in Paso Robles in California and several regions in Chile.

The Limited Release Curran and Hughes Barossa Shiraz and Barossa Shiraz Mataro draws on this distilled experience most ably.

The 2020 Curran and Hughes Barossa Shiraz shows the ripe fruit tones and bold flavours which have put the Barossa on the global wine map.

The 2020 Shiraz Mataro takes these flavours in a slightly different but equally enticing direction. The Mataro ( or Mourvedre) gives the wine a savoury peppery flavour while lightening the palate a touch to make the wine enticing and very easy to enjoy.

This classical old fashioned varietal combo was rarely an accident.Since 1832, the pungent peppery aroma of the Mataro has been asserting itself by holding its own against the bold flavours of Shiraz.

This wine shows its peppery note up-front, following through to sweet, plummy fruit flavours. Its soft middle palate has ample, sweet fruity notes making the wine nicely enticing and easy to drink.
