Trentham Estate Cleanskin Pinot Gris 2020 (12 x 750mL) VIC

Description:

THE GRAPES

The grape variety is closely related to Pinot Noir and is known as Pinot Grigio in Italy or Pinot Gris in France. The grapes are pink to light purple in colour and are harvested at different ripeness levels depending on the wine style being made. Grapes are normally picked earlier for the Grigio style.

THE VINTAGE

The region enjoyed a typical start to a warm and dry growing season with little rainfall in November and December, and average spring temperatures evolving into a near-perfect summer growing cycle. The slightly lower yields have resulted in exceptional fruit ripeness and show an exquisite concentration of aromas and flavours. The overall season offered superb conditions for a range of varieties throughout our vineyards. Across the board, quality was outstanding!

THE WINEMAKING

The grapes were harvested in late January during the coolest part of the day to protect the freshly picked fruit then swiftly transported to the winery where it is crushed, pressed and clarified prior to fermentation. A long, cool fermentation occurred over a ten-day period with a specially selected yeast strain. Post fermentation, the wine was stabilised and clarified prior to bottling.

Winery Tasting Notes

Notes Image

A delicate white wine displaying characters of lemon zest, green apple skin and fresh nashi pear. A delicious crisp wine to enjoy chilled on a hot day. A great food wine that goes well with seafood, sushi or poultry.

Winery Profile

Trentham' s winery has been operating since 1988, where it has grown from the initial 30 tonne crush to a minimal but state-of-the-art facility handling 5,000 tonnes of premium fruit each vintage. It allows the flexibility to perform different winemaking styles, resulting in the diverse and always consistent Trentham Estate wines.

Today, Anthony is assisted with the making of Trentham's wines by Winemakers Shane Kerr and Mark Holm, along with a dedicated team of cellar and laboratory staff.

The winemaking philosophy at Trentham Estate has always been to produce high-quality varietal wines at an affordable price, with an emphasis on full fruit flavour and palatability.

Over the years Trentham Estate has produced a good balance of classic wine styles mixed with a number of alternative varieties. Anthony and Patrick have a passion for producing wines true to their natural varietal character, as well as experimenting with grape varieties that are lesser-known yet likely to thrive in the Mediterranean climate Mildura and the Murray Darling wine region are known for.

The awards received by many of these wines attest to the well-considered selection of varietals together with careful winemaking.

Trentham Estate is proud to export half of its annual production to a range of countries. The wines are available throughout Australia and of course in the Estate's own Cellar Door and Restaurant - all for you to enjoy!
