Thomson Estate Limestone Cliffs SSB 2020 (12 x 750mL) SA

Description:

Winemaking

The 2020 growing season was very dry as low winter rains meant less ground water for the vines to draw on during the season. Windy conditions during flowering caused occasional bunches to have low berry count coupled with warm conditions at ripening meant smaller berry sizes and bunches. The overall result is lower than average fruit yield, but the quality of the fruit was excellent with elevated flavour intensity.

Sauvignon Blanc from our Clare vineyard is blended with Semillon from our Scotts Creek vineyard to produce this harmonious blend.

1838 was the year Walter Thomson, with wife Jane, arrived in Australia and established a winemaking tradition. Faithful to his approach, our estate grown parcels are carefully tended by our vignerons to create wines of great intensity.

The Riverland region has the greatest days of sunshine, a pristine climate and limestone soils for premium grape growing. These soils are visible in the Limestone Cliffs along the banks providing a majestic display at sunset.

Winery Profile

Brand Profile Image

Experienced wine exporters, vignerons and domestic wine sellers. The Byrne difference is quality focused, innovative and estate grown wines from grape to glass.

Celebrating 60 years and 4 generations, the Byrne family range of wines express our dedication to sustainability and land regeneration practices, with our ethos to minimise harm and maximise benefits to the environment.

From the banks of the Murray River in which our vineyard grows, our prized estate wines reflect the love that goes into our land, delivering richness and complexity into each glass.

It all began almost half a century ago when the first vines were planted in a spot handpicked for its stony soils over the limestone base. Combine that with the warm embrace of a dry climate and generous sunshine, and you have the perfect recipe for grape varieties bursting with flavour and resilience.
