Thomson Estate Limestone Cliffs Semillon Sauvignon Blanc 2022 (12 x 750mL)

Description:

1838 was the year Walter Thomson, with wife Jane, arrived in Australia and established a winemaking tradition. Faithful to his approach, our estate grown parcels are carefully tended by our vignerons to create wines of great intensity.

In South Australia we have long days of sunshine and a pristine climate with vineyards on top of limestone soils for premium grape growing. These soils are visible in the Limestone Cliffs along the banks of the river Murray providing a majestic display at sunset.

Zesty tropical fruits of lifted passionfruit and peach are refreshing and persistent. Served well chilled as the sun goes down.

WINEMAKING

2022 vintage was one of the most outstanding vintages for white wines in South Australia as the temperatures on the lead up to harvest was cool and even with no heat waves or rain. This moderate weather allowed slow and complete ripening of the grapes with great intensity of flavour and aroma. The fruit was harvested in the cool of the evening, gently presssed on arrival at the winery to collect only the premium free run juice. Fermentation was slow at a low temperature to capture the subtle aromatics of Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc. The result is a stunning display of lifted varietal expression.

Winery Tasting Notes

Notes Image

COLOUR

Light straw with green highlights.

AROMA

Passionfruit with citrus, gooseberry and floral notes.

PALATE

This light bodied wine has elegant passionfruit and citrus flavours with tremendous fruit persistence. The mid palate has white fleshed peach which is balanced beautifully by the medium acid lining down the length of the palate. It pairs well with Thai fishcakes with sweet chilli sauce, or chicken Caesar salad with croutons.
