MATURATION

Twenty months in 75% first use hogsheads, mainly American; remainder in older hogsheads.

WINEMAKERS COMMENTS

A small parcel of grapes selected from a lean sandy site on the eastern side of the district. Given the right royal treatment producing a gorgeous wine.

Later ripening coincided with milder conditions and yielded fully matured grapes and an outstanding vintage.

This wine has a plush texture and that typical plum pudding/chocolate richness seen in the best Aussie Shiraz.

COLOUR

Deep crimson almost black: it has the intensity to throw a crust if cellared for an extended period.

NOSE

Ripe plums and blackberries with an overlay of coconut from the American oak. Cedar and chocolate starting to give the bouquet added complexity

PALATE

Very complex sweet and ripe with fruit cake/plum pudding characters. Fine dusty tannins give balance to the fruit sweetness and result in that typical persistence of great red wine
