Winery Tasting Notes

Aroma

This wine exhibits aromas of cherry and plum with a hint of chocolate and subtle oak nuances.

Palate

A complex palate of dark fruit, coffee and spice has been achieved through judicious fruit selection and extreme care in winemaking. The immense flavour profile, round mouthfeel and smooth silky tannins are a result of 18 months maturation in French and American barriques. This wine has a great length of flavour and can be enjoyed now or cellared for up to 10 years for further complexity.

The E&E Black Pepper Shiraz is the pinnacle of Barossa Shiraz, representing the best parcels of Shiraz the Barossa has to offer, lovingly crafted. The 2003 E&E Black Pepper Shiraz further reinforces the Barossa Valley Estate reputation of delivering world class Shiraz. Simply superb.

Leather, prune, licorice, plum and blackberry all intermingle on the supple palate; simply doesn't have the intense focus of the nest '04's, but is a pretty good wine. Rating 91 - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion 2008
