Colour

The colour is a medium density red with burgundy hues and long alcohol legs coating the sides of the glass.

Aroma

The bouquet is typical McLaren Vale, luscious ripe berries with earthy ironstone and charred oak. The aroma lingers and grows in the glass as the wine warms to room temperature revealing ground roasted coffee and licorice spice. Allow time to breathe and embrace the rustic charm.

Palate

This wine was made in traditional “Heritage” style in open concrete vats with the cap plunged 3 times a day during fermentation and the must “pumped over” regularly to gently release the maximum flavour without hard pressing and extraction. The finished wine was naturally settled and matured in 3 – 4 year old oak hogsheads. The final flavours are savoury and delicious with full bodied tannins and a rich, dry finish.

Food Matching

Being a traditional Aussie classic, it’s hard to go past the perennial favourites of steak, lamb chops, thick sausages and beef patties grilled on the BBQ with onion rings a crusty bun and dollop of tomato sauce.
