FRUIT

This Chardonnay was grown on mature vines with an average of 40 years on limestone soils. The result is a wine with lively fruit intensity and good acid balance. The Scotts Creek vineyard in Riverland region has cool evenings with warm summer days which balanced the flavour profile of the chardonnay fruit making a truly delicious wine.

WINEMAKING

The richness of the fruit in its natural state meant that minimal intervention was required in the winery. Separate parcels were left on skins for some time in order to develop the keen tannin structure, then fermented in stainless steel with some French and American oak influence.

1838 was the year Walter Thomson, with wife Jane, arrived in Australia and established a winemaking tradition. Faithful to his approach, our estate grown parcels are carefully tended by our vignerons to create wines of great intensity. Glorious vantage lookouts along the cliffs of the beautiful River Murray can be enjoyed near our mature vineyards.

Pale straw with green highlights

AROMA

Lifted fruity notes of pineapple, white fleshed peach, and hints of new oak.

PALATE

Rich pineapple and melon flavours on the front palate, together with subtle oak, soft acidity, providing a satisfying finish. Serve chilled to pair with chicken fennel rigatoni salad or barbecue lobster with corn and ginger butter. Vegan friendly.
