Von Rieben Shiraz 2019 (12 x 750mL) SA

Description:

Baron Hermann Von Rieben was born to a baronial family of the manor of Kosa-Broma in Mecklenburg. A sociable man, he built the Von Riebens Hotel located on our Scotts Creek property which was licenced in 1855 and operated continuously for twenty years. Of essential importance to tourists of the district where every comfort and accommodation was more than one could expect, it overlooked the majestic lagoon wetland teaming with fish and bird life.

Hermann was also the Postmaster opening the first Country Eyre Post Office in 1859 at the hotel. These historic sites are a link to our history and sit serenely adjacent the vineyards which continue to thrive producing this estate grown wine.

The original settler of the land where the vines are planted in rocky limestone soils perfectly suited to these varieties.

Winery Profile

Brand Profile Image

Experienced wine exporters, vignerons and domestic wine sellers. The Byrne difference is quality focused, innovative and estate grown wines from grape to glass.

Celebrating 60 years and 4 generations, the Byrne family range of wines express our dedication to sustainability and land regeneration practices, with our ethos to minimise harm and maximise benefits to the environment.

From the banks of the Murray River in which our vineyard grows, our prized estate wines reflect the love that goes into our land, delivering richness and complexity into each glass.

It all began almost half a century ago when the first vines were planted in a spot handpicked for its stony soils over the limestone base. Combine that with the warm embrace of a dry climate and generous sunshine, and you have the perfect recipe for grape varieties bursting with flavour and resilience.
