Description:

WINEMAKING NOTES

Grapes were picked during the early hours of the morning while it was cool to allow cold soaking to gently extract colour and skin tannins. The grapes were fermented in open fermenters to allow gentle pump-overs three times a day. Post alcoholic fermentation the wine was transferred to 30% new French and American oak barrels and 70% older French barrels for Malo-lactic fermentation. The wine was left to mature for 15 months

before bottling. The wine was finned and filtered before bottling.

VINTAGE REPORT

The lead up to the 2017 vintage was slow, with a cool beginning to the year. Fruit set was high, so bunches were also plentiful. The cool conditions allowed slow, meticulous ripening, resulting in elegant flavours, crisp

natural acids and balanced sugar accumulation. Patience was rewarded with beautifully ripened fruit arriving to the winery.

Expert Reviews

The wine is produced from the Manjimup sub region in Geographe and is a very good example of what the region can do with Shiraz; the nose has richness and generosity of plum and blackberry fruit, with French oak adding layers of vanillin spice. The palate is supple and almost decadent with milk chocolate and cedar that work alongside juicy plum fruit. Tannins have a savoury, almost charcuterie inspired edge and balance out the wines richer notes. The length is very good to finish with a sheath of oak and vanilla framing dark berry fruits. - 94 Points, Wine Reviewer | Patrick Eckel | May 2019

The wine offers gorgeous aromas of dark plum, cherry, smoked game, olive and cedary oak characters, leading to a superbly expressed palate that offers excellent concentration and depth.
