1838 was the year Walter Thomson, with wife Jane, arrived in Australia and established a winemaking tradition. Faithful to his approach, our estate grown parcels are carefully tended by our vignerons to create wines of great intensity.

Named after a landmark building beside the majestic River Murray in South Australia, the Riverland region has the greatest days of sunshine and a pristine climate for premium grape growing on our limestone soils.

On the banks of the river Murray are our shiraz vineyards, grown in ancient limestone soils this region has warm days with cool nights which gives vibrancy and intensity to the fruit flavours. Ideal with slow cooked beef brisket or a Moroccan beef stew, enjoy now or keep for up to five years with careful cellaring.

COLOUR

Dark purple body with crimson edges.

AROMA

Red cherry, cinnamon with a spicy bouquet and subtle aromas of oak and cured meats.

PALATE

Strawberry and raspberry fruit dominate the front palate with dried herbs and baking spices balancing providing complexity and finesse. The medium tannins and subtle oak round out the end of the palate giving a satisfying jammy finish.
