The Author pays homage to pioneering vigneron John Riddoch (1827-1901). A true visionary, Riddoch is regarded as one of the founding fathers of Australian wine. An influential figure, he established The Coonawarra Fruit Colony in 1890 and a synonymous with the region’s story. The Author represents the finest expression of the vintage.

Gold & 95 Pts - Halliday Rating. Fresh mulberries, bramble and lingonberries. Cracked allspice, cardamom and licorice straps. There is a pleasant amount of blue plums and dried bilberries. Oak is well integrated into the wine, providing framework to carry the generous fruit. It feels like there has been some restraint here, and it stands out amongst the portfolio. Colour: Dark red colour.

Nose: Lifted red berry, intense dark fruits, plums, bramble and sweet spice aromatics.

Palate: Red fruits with hints of plums and bramble flavours. Gently integrated oak moulds around the fruit. Well refined tannins leading into a good length of flavour.

Tasting Profile: Full Bodied, yet elegant.

Food Match: Slow-roasted lamb shoulder with red wine and porcini jus and chargrilled broccoli.
