VINTAGE CONDITIONS

The 2013 harvest was a classic in Paso Robles. The growing season went smoothly, without any heat spikes or cool stretches. But it was a dry year, with low yields and small berries which meant an early harvest. Yields were down about 20 percent for many vintners, adding intensity to the grapes and giving powerful flavour and aromas to the wines.

WINEMAKING

Picked in the cool of the morning and open top fermented. Hand plunged for rich colour and complex mid-palate. Matured for 12 months in a combination of French and American oak barriques. The Adelaide Hills fruit component added lifted white pepper flavours and a touch of elegance.fermenter. 100% French oak barrels used for maturation.
