Fruit development was even, producing concentrated flavours with excellent balance. Fruit from our estate vineyards was harvested in stages for optimal ripeness, destemmed, and fermented in

temperature-controlled vessels to extract vibrant colour and fine tannin. Each batch was kept separate before careful blending, allowing the final wine to showcase harmony, richness and the hallmark intensity of our vineyards. Oak maturation added depth and a refined spice character.

Winery Profile

1838 was the year Walter Thomson, with wife Jane, arrived in Australia and established a winemaking tradition. Faithful to his approach, our estate grown parcels are carefully tended by our vignerons to create wines of great intensity.

Named after a landmark building beside the majestic River Murray in South Australia, the Riverland region has the greatest days of sunshine and a pristine climate for premium grape growing on our limestone soils.
