The Castelli wines are produced from grapes sourced from the finest single vineyards throughout Western Australia's Great Southern region. Over the past decade, Castelli has established itself as a star of this cool climate winemaking area - consistently producing stunning examples of the region's hero varietals.

The 2022 Castelli Pemberton Chardonnay is another classy example of Great Southern Chardonnay. There is an array of aromatics of cumquat, grapefruit with some underlying toasted hazelnuts emanating from the glass. 100% barrel fermentation in French oak provides a lovely textural component and nuances of gunflint and creamy richness. The finely woven palate with a precise mineral core shows great length and focus and will suit cellaring over the next 8-10 years.

Made from grapes grown in the renowned Riesling region of Mt Barker and Frankland River, the 2022 Castelli The Sum Riesling is an approachable, vibrant example offering an abundance of lime and grapefruit flavours with impressive intensity and a clean, dry finish. At this sensational price, you'd be hard pressed to find a better value Riesling anywhere in Australia.

Expert Reviews

94 Points.

Straight to press without crushing or destemming for this Pemberton Chardy. 100% barrel fermentation in French oak of varying ages. Gentle lemon in colour, there are spices, stonefruits, florals, a hint of nutmeg, vanilla and lemon grass on the delightfully expressive nose. The palate is well balanced with good acidity and length. Seamless in style, it is delicious now, and expect it to continue to drink well over the next five to ten years.

Winery Tasting Notes

The structure is typical of the region: a balance of rich flavour with an intensely textural, taut mid palate, fine acidity and exceptional length.
