50-Pound Breaking Strain, Monofilament Fishing Line (2000 metre spool)

Similar items may sell elsewhere for $197.

Invented by DuPont in 1939, monofilament fishing lines are made of a single strand of nylon, with the thickness of the strand determining the breaking strain. Fishermen often use monofilament because of its buoyant characteristics and its ability to stretch under load while fighting fish. 50-pound breaking strain is the most popular line size used offshore.

Key features

Monofilament line is shock absorbing and forgiving, but is sensitive to sunlight and salt. Meaning that regular replacement of the line on your reels is important. Australian fisherman, author and TV presenter Al McGlashan says, "One of the most critical elements of catching big fish is fresh line. I am not talking about new line you bought a year ago, I am talking about replacing your line every few weeks during the season. I check my line after every fish and if I find any nicks or grazes it is all cut off. This may seem like overkill but when you think about it a bust off is the most common way to lose a fish, and the best way to minimise it is with new line!"

Buying bulk spools of quality line is the most economical way to keep your reels ready for the fish of a lifetime. All line orders are shipped with a free detachable line counter included. It clips onto your rod and measures line wound on to your reel. So you know exactly how much line you’ve used, and how much is left to spool up another of your reels, or a friend’s reel. That saves you money. (Note: One free line counter per total order.)

All batches of monofilament line are checked to assure correct breaking strain, prior to shipping.
