2018 was a strong growing season in McLaren Vale. Spring rains brought good growth and soil moisture out of a relatively dry winter. Vine growth was balanced with good healthy canopies. After spring, rain events were quite sparse; however, these came at the right time during the growing & ripening periods resulting in moderate berry size, fresh healthy canopies & minimal disease pressure particularly for this dry grown vineyard. 2018 McLaren Vale Shiraz shows wonderful varietal aromatics, fantastic colour and incredible depth of flavour.

The 2018 Reynella Basket Pressed Shiraz is a classic McLaren Vale Shiraz, showing complex notes of dark cherry with rich dark berry fruits and fine, velvety tannin structure. This wine would pair beautifully with pork tacos with a rich BBQ sauce.

93 PointsMatured is 95/5% French/American oak, 25% new. A thickly textured and luscious wine, propped by 40yo vines, an old basket press and judiciously appointed oak. Black cherry, iodine, violet, clove and a swathe of anise and pepper grind-laced tannins, long and bullish. A conflation of power and refinement, angled more toward the former. Fidelitous to place. Deserved of the cellar.

Bouquet:

Complex notes of dark cherry, blackberry, plum with red liquorice, dark chocolate and fresh coffee beans.

Palate:

Rick, thick and vibrant with layers of dark berry fruits, mulberry, black olive and dark chocolate. Finely balanced with outstanding depth of flavour, generous oak sweetness and an impressive structure with a swathe of velvety tannins.
