Coldstream Hills was established in 1985 by James and Suzanne Halliday

and has since grown to become one of Australia's leading and most awarded small wineries. Situated in the picturesque Yarra Valley east of Melbourne, the steep close planted vineyards of Coldstream Hills have become a signature of the region. So too have its wines, which reflect regional character, consistency and style. Sourced from low yielding vineyards in the Lower and Upper Yarra Valley, all fruit is selectively picked prior to its delivery into the winery. It is made using a variety of handling and fermentation techniques, including the use of whole bunches. Each batch is then matured in seasoned and new oak for eight to nine months, prior to blending and bottling.

"A cooler vintage in the Yarra has resulted in an elegant and supple pinot showing the virtues of this region. Dominant sour cherry on the nose but there are other subtle influences of chocolate and minerally herbs with a slightly limestone character. The palate shows a fine limestone character that threads into the primary flavours of cherry and cranberry. Well-managed oak adds the final touch." - Ray Jordan

Fragrant notes of wild strawberry, sour cherry and cranberry with underlying subtle French oak, hints of mineral slate and spice.

Palate

Elegant and stylish, the palate is silky and long with a fine chalky tannin profile.

Attractive cranberry and sour cherry notes are interwoven with stalky spice, harmoniously balanced French oak and finely tuned acidity.

Established in 1985 by James and Suzanne Halliday, Coldstream Hills is one of Australia’s most respected producers of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

Situated in the cool and beautiful Yarra Valley, about one hour’s drive east of Melbourne, Coldstream Hills’ steep, close-planted vineyards have become a signature of the region.

Coldstream Hills maintains its small winery essence with the wines being hand-made, mainly using open fermenters for the red wines, while the white wines are barrel-fermented.

Inspired by Burgundian techniques, winemaker Andrew Fleming’s goal is to make wines that not only reflect the potential of the Yarra Valley, but demonstrate regional expression, finesse and length.
