Winemaking

After an early morning harvest, the juice from the estate grown fruit was pressed to tank, allowed to settle overnight and then fermented in new, one year old and two year old French Oak.After 8 months maturation on lees, the wine was blended and bottled.

Vintage

A very dry growing season led to one of the earliest vintages on record.As a result of the lack of rainfall, the yields were considerably reduced.There also was an abundance of Eucalyptus tree blossom and this prevented further loss of quality and yield from bird damage. The resulting fruit, was of excellent quality with impressive flavour concentration.

Expert Reviews

2020 was a warm year which resulted in lower yields and smaller berries. That concentration is felt here, but smart picking decisions are also evident. Matured for 8 months in seasoned French oak. Grilled yellow peach, crushed pistachios, briney acid and layers of exotic spice through the finish (think star anise, cracked pink peppercorn and fennel flower). The acidity, which has the potential to be fierce in Frankland, is entrenched and soft, in concert with all other elements of the wine. - Erin Larkin, Halliday Wine Companion

Colour

Brilliant pale gold with emerald flecks.

Nose

Lifted notes of pink grapefruit zest, fresh ginger and cinnamon with hints of struck match.

Palate

Concentrated flavours of rockmelon and nectarine with savoury, nutty complexity through the palate.The intensity of the fruit is carried by a creamy texture with a bright and lingering acid profile.

Cellaring

Whilst ready to drink now, this wine will gain in complexity over the next three to five years.
