94 pts - Angus Hughson (Wine Pilot)

Allan Scott is one of the pioneers in Marlborough with vines planted all the way back in 1975, which is old by New Zealand standards. And the old boy knows a thing about crafting quality Pinot Noir in New Zealand’s home of Sauvignon Blanc. This is classic Marlborough – not big like Central Otago or the spicy wines from Martinborough, but full of juicy red fruits. It is pretty and restrained with loads of wild strawberry, earthy and spicy fruits which then leads to a mid-weight and crisp palate with a touch of tobacco complexity, with a lingering fine finish. Lots to like here.

Winery Tasting Notes

This succulent Pinot Noir has aromas of spice, currant and dark Ghana chocolate. A juicy cherry mouthfeel matches perfectly with the grippy bitterness of the dark cocoa. A long and luxurious feel on the palate will remind you of your favourite cherry jam colliding With that warm dark cup of black tea. This Pinot Noir is concentrated and powerful and deserves a little bit of bottle aging before enjoying with rich flavoursome food.

Winery Profile

Our family has a reputation of producing wines consistent in flavour and quality year after year. We attribute our success to excellent growing conditions, hard work and a desire to produce the world's best wines.

Allan Scott Family Winery has several vineyards situated in two of the world’s most prestigious growing regions - Marlborough and Central Otago, New Zealand. As the owners of our own vineyards and winery we have control of our product, from the growing on our vines and the harvesting of our grapes to the bottling and marketing of our wines.

MARLBOROUGH

The Allan Scott Family Winery Marlborough vineyards are situated close to our winery and restaurant complex in the Rapaura area of the Wairau Plains. The gravelly soils that predominate are perfectly suited to the production of the aromatics; Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Pinot Gris, and Gewürztraminer. Traditionally made Chardonnay and Pinot Noir is also produced.

CENTRAL OTAGO

Situated in breathe taking scenery on the main road between Wanaka and Queenstown the Allan Scott Family Winery, Scott Base, grows predominantly Pinot Noir, with small plots of Chardonnay and Pinot Gris.

4 stars - Winestate

Offering good value, this fragrant red was hand-picked from mature vines, fermented with indigenous yeasts and barrel-aged (20% new). Ruby hued, it is mouthfilling and savoury, with ripe fruit flavours, good complexity and a smooth, harmonious finish. Best drinking 2021+.
