Central – the home to New Zealand’s biggest, boldest and most muscular Pinot Noirs. It’s the Barossa Valley of New Zealand Pinot country thanks to its dry, harsh climate, with the Scott Base vineyard right in the heart of Central near the little town of Cromwell. This is a typically dense Central Otago Pinot Noir style – earthy mushroom and wild thyme aromas sit over lush rhubarb and dark cherry fruits. It’s powerful and rich with generous fruit well matched by some quality oak. Lots of complexity too but just needs a couple of years to settle into the groove, although still a great drink now.
Winery Tasting Notes
Classic Central Otago aromatics of ripe cherries, raspberries and wild thyme. The palate is full of primary fruits and finishes with smooth tannins and oak sweetness. Ideal with pâtés and salami, this wine matches beautifully with beef and lamb dishes, and try also pairing with game. Don’t be afraid to serve with a dark chocolate mousse either. Drink now or cellar for up to 5 years.

Allan Scott Family Winery has several vineyards situated in two of the world’s most prestigious growing regions - Marlborough and Central Otago, New Zealand. As the owners of our own vineyards and winery we have control of our product, from the growing on our vines and the harvesting of our grapes to the bottling and marketing of our wines.
MARLBOROUGH
The Allan Scott Family Winery Marlborough vineyards are situated close to our winery and restaurant complex in the Rapaura area of the Wairau Plains. The gravelly soils that predominate are perfectly suited to the production of the aromatics; Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Pinot Gris, and Gewürztraminer. Traditionally made Chardonnay and Pinot Noir is also produced.
CENTRAL OTAGO
Situated in breathe taking scenery on the main road between Wanaka and Queenstown the Allan Scott Family Winery, Scott Base, grows predominantly Pinot Noir, with small plots of Chardonnay and Pinot Gris.
