Winery Tasting Notes

This undeniable and there is a spirit Bollinger. In wines certainly, but also in Ay. The involvement and the seriousness of those working in the design of these wines closely contribute to their success. Bollinger is one of the few Champagne houses to be family remained; it has a vineyard of 163 hectares located, for more than 80% in large and premiers crus, and providing more than 60% of its grape requirements. Another feature of the house: a portion of reserve wines fermented in wood is then stored in magnums, capped cork, for 5 to 12 years before being incorporated in the assembly. Finally, on the side of management, Ghislain de Montgolfier has passed the torch in September 2007. Jérôme Philipon which is anchored in the wake of his elder while printing style. The witness went well, no doubt that the brand continues not to shine in the starry skies of Champagne.

The vintage Great Year is signed by the Bollinger style in all its example and its outcome. In a majestic vinous, with intense and complex aromas, this blend of grands crus and premiers crus definitely up this wine among the great. Structure, power, finesse, everything is there. As always with Bollinger, the exception is the rule and bespoke prevails: wine in small barrels of ancient oak, taken and slow maturation cellar under cork (to better preserve the wine from oxidation), maturing on lees at least 6 years. A work of craftsmanship that gives rise to one of the myths of Champagne.

Winery Profile

Family owned and controlled, Bollinger is dedicated to producing a consistent and distinctive style of Champagne. Bollinger’s wines are predicated by their unique vineyards: rich, assertive and with great power yet always with finesse.

To reinforce its commitment to style and quality, Bollinger launched its Charter of Ethics and Quality in 1992 (reinforced by its Ten Commitments), which guarantees the continuity of the policy of the House for the years to come.

In 2006 the prestigious French wine magazine La Revue du Vin de France surveyed the most significant group of sommeliers and wine writers for them to nominate the top 50 Champagne Houses which would be regarded as the most responsible for the greatness of Champagne as a unique wine region. Bollinger was selected as the number one House by this group.
