WINEMAKING

The fruit for this wine was harvested using a selective process harvester in late April from block 13.6 on our Upton Run vineyard. After gentle crushing, the juice was fermented in stainless steel to extract colourand preserve primary fruit characters. A cultured yeast was specifically selected to enhance spicy flavours and aromas. For six months this wine was matured with French (85%) and American (15%) oak.

VINTAGE CONDITIONS

Mother nature gave us a large crop of Sangiovese in 2021. Due to the cooler conditions, grapes were picked late, whereas traditionally Sangiovese is one of the first to be harvested. However this allowed the fruit to ripen gradually, allowing good intensityin flavour.

Winery Tasting Notes

Colour

Vibrant cherry red.

Nose

Dark cherry and dried herbs meld with, black olives and subtle violet and rose petals.

Palate

Rich plum and cherry with a hintof cassis. Asilky soft mid-palate, with fine chalky tannins and a hit of spice on the lingering finish.
