Made from Grillo, one of the many local white varieties. It says extra dry on the pretty label and it means it! Green apples and pears do the talking, a twist of lemon and fine acid keep it all very tidy. Almost too dry on its own, better with some fresh oysters I suspect.

Winery Tasting Notes

Colour: Light straw yellow, with elegant greenish reflections.

Bouquet: Fresh, intense and persistent, very fruity and fine, it expresses aromas of acacia flowers and wisteria, together with the delicate scent of fresh fruit like apple, pear and peach as well as elegant nuances of white flowers (magnolia and lily).

Flavour: In the mouth it is dry and fresh, fragrant with strong acidity and minerality.

It offers a generous serve of Stonefruit with a suggestion of almond paste imbued across the palate. The palate shows a gentle bead, a delicate apple and pear flavour with a trickle of citrus. Whilst I know it originates from Sicily, I can certainly feel a Mediterranean vibe about it: Gentle waves crashing against a rocky shoreline, sending a fine saline spray into the air. Good aperitif style.
