The winemaking and blending of Howard Park Sauvignon Blanc focuses on the contribution of regional fruit strengths to build layers of flavour, structure and texture in the wine.
From free- run juice and partial barrel fermentation; there are distinct nuances of fresh- cut grass that persist through the bouquet and into the fore- palate, whereafter finely crafted gooseberry and fleeting tropical flavours take centre stage. Rating 94 - Drink by 2015, James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion (SEP/2013).
Colour
A glistening silver green in colour.
Aroma
A bouquet that is highly fragrant and very fresh. Exotic floral notes of elder flower and lime blossom mingle with black currant, gooseberry, passion fruit and lime zest.
Palate
Juicy yet fine, the palate has ripe stone fruit juiciness, custard apple richness, zingy citrus, a bright acidity and a linear/ mineral finish.
Food Matching
Char grilled squid dipped in a lemon and caper aioli.
Cellaring Potential
A vibrant and exotic aperitif style when young with blossoming fruit and a fine long structure that will allow the wine to evolve in flavour and complexity over the next few years. The Howard Park 2013 Sauvignon Blanc will drink beautifully for the next 3 to 5 years.

History
Howard Park Wines was established in 1986 and was one of the original pioneers of the Great Southern region. The founding owner of Howard Park, John Wade ventured west to Western Australia's South West with one belief: "I don't know any other region where you can produce both Riesling and Cabernet Sauvignon as premium wines". This founding belief began the journey of Howard Park.
Now over 20 years on, Howard Park remains a family owned winery under the guidance of Jeff and Amy Burch. With a philosophy to produce wines of distinct regional character with an uncompromising commitment to quality Howard Park has forged an international reputation for their wines and an expanded range including single vineyard and multi regional wines from Margaret River and the Great Southern.
"We have worked towards establishing Howard Park as a premium family wine company. This success will be measured by the work we do now for future generations." Jeff Burch
Our Philosophy
This founding two region philosophy aligns with Howard Park's wine making philosophy which adopts an ethos for integrating the old with the new. Howard Park embraces modern technology whilst employing traditional wine making techniques and produces internationally recognised wines of the highest quality. As a result our Riesling, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz wines are only ever produced in very small quantities, but are noted for their rare balance of elegance and power with a proven history of ageing with increased complexity and interest.
"We have a simple philosophy; premium wine can only come from excellent fruit. Simply, we go to wherever the fruit grows best." Jeff Burch
