Winery Tasting Notes

Pale gold in colour with an exceptionally fine bead. Aromas of white florals, fresh straw and honeysuckle with notes of toasted brioche. The palate is elegant and poised. Vanilla bean and spiced pear mingle with lemon zest and hints of sea spray. This is a sophisticated, savoury wine with fine, creamy, nougat texture from extended time on tirage and long, chalky, mineral acidity.

Medals & Trophies

Very harmonious

95 Points Gold medal

Elegantly lifted in the glass, attractive chalky sea spray note. Really beautiful fine bead structure. Lovely soft but firm phenolics. Longer finish. Extremely well balance of fruit and autolytic characters and very harmonious.

Winery Profile

Jansz Tasmania vineyard lies in the Tamar Valley in the heart of the Pipers River region in north eastern Tasmania. With a mantle of red basalt soils and a cool climate moderated by the proximity of Bass Strait, the Jansz Tasmania vineyards are ideal for allowing grapes to ripen slowly and develop the lingering acidity essential to produce a premium sparkling wine. Jansz was Tasmania’s first sparkling wine to be made according to the traditional méthod champenoise and, as the only Tasmanian specialist solely devoted to the art of sparkling winemaking, Jansz Tasmania has since come to describe the technique used in creating each of their definitive wines as Méthode Tasmanoise.

Lithe and smooth with fine, creamy bubbles

94 Points

Only produced in the best vintages, this single vineyard Blanc de Blancs opens with a beautiful and serene candied lemon zestiness. Subtle hints of oatmeal also play on the gentle but very fresh, citric nose. The palate is lithe and smooth with fine, creamy bubbles, and shines with the lemony serenity that was signalled on the nose. Underneath it all is supple texture and more of that oatmeal flavour. Lovely and very fresh.
