Delicate mousse and vivid, clean acidity

91 Points

Notes of pink cherries and nectarines with hints of lavender, dried herbs and dried citrus peel. Some bread crumbs, too. Round and more creamy on the palate with delicate mousse and vivid, clean acidity. Tangy, citrusy finish. Drink now.

James Suckling, 04 Jan 2024

Winery Tasting Notes

Delicate pink in colour. Ethereal, complex aromas of rose petals and white strawberry, with soda and ozone characters. These high notes blend with subtle aromas of fresh baked brioche, rose hip and the sweet smell of briar. The palate is pure elegance, the epitome of Tasmanian Pinot Noir expressed as Turkish delight, strawberries and raspberries. These blend harmoniously with a fine, creamy texture and richness in the mid-palate, adorned by delicate roasted almond nougat from time on yeast lees. Barrel fermentation adds an extra layer of complexity, fine tannin texture and lovely fresh, natural acidity takes the palate to a lingering, refreshing finish.

Winery Profile

Jansz Tasmania vineyard lies in the Tamar Valley in the heart of the Pipers River region in north eastern Tasmania. With a mantle of red basalt soils and a cool climate moderated by the proximity of Bass Strait, the Jansz Tasmania vineyards are ideal for allowing grapes to ripen slowly and develop the lingering acidity essential to produce a premium sparkling wine. Jansz was Tasmania’s first sparkling wine to be made according to the traditional méthod champenoise and, as the only Tasmanian specialist solely devoted to the art of sparkling winemaking, Jansz Tasmania has since come to describe the technique used in creating each of their definitive wines as Méthode Tasmanoise.
