La Linea is a collaboration between three highly experienced wine professionals: David LeMire MW, Peter Leske, and Jason Quin.

Their first vintage was in 2007, after winemaker Peter Leske could not get the imagined aroma and taste of a pale, dry, fine Tempranillo rosé out of his mind. He knew an Adelaide Hills vineyard which produced fruit perfect for the wine… and La Linea was born.

Back then it was a ‘newbie’ grape, of course… but Tempranillo is no longer really an ‘emerging’ grape in Australia. Just like in its home in Spain, we know it well enough to make a diverse range of styles, from crisp rosés produced for summer drinking, to robust, long-living reds.

Winery Tasting Notes

Medium weight, almost racy in a way, lightly gummy tannins a feature in cherry-cola flavours and peppery spice. The perfume is rose hip tea, sarsaparilla, pepper, green herb.The general sense of drinkability is all here too. Well practiced at Tempranillo, La Linea did a great job with this vintage.

Winery Profile

La Linea is a partnership of experienced wine industry professionals, including Peter Leske and David LeMire MW. Peter was among the first to recognise the potential of Tempranillo in Australia, and his knowledge of it is reflected in the three wine styles made from the variety: Tempranillo Rose, the Tempranillo blended from several Adelaide Hills vineyards, and Norteno, from a single vineyard at the northern end of the Hills. Two Rieslings are produced under the Vertigo label: TRKN (short for trocken), and the off-dry 25GR (25 g/l residual sugar). James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion
