2023 was another cracking vintage in McLaren Vale. A long, cool ripening period and no heatwaves meant that we had plenty of opportunity to ripen the Grenache perfectly. We snuck a few whole bunches in our Grenache this year, so you may notice a bit more of a floral lift and lovely long tannins to round out the palate. Glory to gorgeous Grenache!

Dean the builder has become part of the OT family over the last few years as he was the main man in charge of delivering the new cellar door space and our new office. He is a man who doesn’t like wine or to wear long pants or social media. He will probably never know that he has his name on a bottle of wine. However, he is the best in the business and we find ourselves desperately looking around for something else to build, just so we can keep him around!!

Winery Tasting Notes

Racy, medium bodied, lovely chewy tannins framing the wine. So fresh and vibrant. Red berries and exotic spices, savoury forestry notes follow through the palate. A classic modern Grenache from an outstanding vintage.

Fragrant, fleshy and floral. Red berries and forest floor, botanicals jump out of the glass. Cranberry and a savoury ironstone note.

Winery Profile

Oliver’s Taranga is situated in the northern hills of McLaren Vale on Seaview Road.

William and Elizabeth Oliver arrived from Scotland in 1839 to settle at McLaren Vale. Six generations later, members of the family are still living on the Whitehill and Taranga farms.

Oliver’s Taranga is renowned for its premium Shiraz along with many ‘alternative varieties’ including Fiano, Viognier, Grenache, Tempranillo, Sagrantino, Vermentino and Cabernet. Fortifieds include 20 year old ‘The Banished’ Fortified Grenache and RW Oliver & Sons Liqueur Muscat.
