Expert Reviews

Matured for 10 months in French oak (30% new). While this has a core of fruit on the palate, the wine lacks freshness and thrust – the edges taper away into dilution, while the acid/tannin intersect is a little jarring. A shame, the Silkwood pinots are often crowd-pleasing little beauties.

Winery Tasting Notes

Full of striking dark berry flavours that linger on the palate, with elegant oak spice and fine tannins providing great structure and length.

Sappy raspberry fruit is varietal and attractive – it’s almost Mornington-esque in that raspberry ripe fruit. The middle introduces some vanilla oak into the red fruit and fills out nicely. The main gripe remains the slightly green edged tannins. 9/10ths of the way there, I think. Best drinking: now to five years.
