Thorn-Clarke's flagship red lives up to its lofty status with intense and concentrated Christmas cake-like characters including dried fruits, chocolate/mocha and spices together with liquorice and a generous oak influence. The wine handles its generous 15.5% alcohol perfectly. Surprisingly good now but definitely one for the cellar.

Appearance
Rich, inky purple colour.
Aroma
Aromas of black cherry and liquorice supported by rich vanillin & mocha notes from the American Oak.
Palate
The palate highlights the intensity of the varietal characters, showing plum and spice, with cocoa, smokey bacon and coffee bean notes below. Dense fruit tannins fill out the palate and lead to a long, complex finish.

After 20 years in vineyard development, Thorn-Clarke is without doubt one of the most exciting Barossa Valley brands to enter the market in some time. The name Thorn-Clarke derives literally from the relationship between two long time Barossa Families. Founders David and Cheryl Clarke (Nee Thorn) work with their son and daughter, Sam and Nicole, in this family-orientated business. With four family-owned vineyards in the Barossa and Eden Valley, Thorn-Clarke produces wines across three ranges (Sandpiper, Shotfire and William Randell). All represent exceptional value and display true regional character. This label showcases the best that the Barossa has to offer.
