When exercising the chest belt (included) picks up your heartbeat and sends it to the watch, allowing you view your heart rate and start monitoring your performance based on the heart rate readings. As you get fitter, your heart will need to do less work and the speed of your heartbeat will decrease. To gain maximum benefit from your training program and to ensure you exercise safely it is advised to follow these guidelines: start with a well-defined training goal; select a training activity you enjoy and vary your training to exercise different muscles; start slowly, then gradually step up your workout; and allow at least a 5 minute warm-up and cool-down time before and after exercising. The included bicycle clamp ensures that you can do a range of physical activity and the carry bag makes it easy and convenient for transport and storage. The watch measures both speed and distance and includes a Smart Training program that monitors fitness levels. It also shows current, average and maximum heart rate readings, calculates Calorie consumption, fat percentage burn, fitness index and body mass index with a 60-lap stopwatch and memory, clock, calendar and alarm functions with a HiGlo backlight.
