The PetPorte recognizes your cat's unique microchip ID. No special microchip is required, as the PetPorte will work with all standard Australian microchips. The PetPorte also features a "night mode" which monitors outdoor light levels, and when it gets dark, the door automatically locks until the sun rises again in the morning. Your cat is kept safe at home at night. The PetPorte is constantly scanning the surrounding area, which means a much faster opening time when cats do approach. It automatically unlocks as your cat approaches and then stays open for four seconds after pets have left the area before locking. If you have more than one cat, then the PetPorte can be programmed to recognize the unique microchip IDs of 25 cats without a problem although it has been successfully used with up to 31 cats. The PetPorte is powered by a low voltage supply or by battery. The PetPorte features a battery facility which can be used as a back up to ensure that cats do not get locked out in the event of a power cut.
