13TH-9TH CENTURY B.C. LURISTAN BRONZE ARROWHEAD

  • A Very Rare Opportunity To Own An Important Piece Of Early Iron Age History (1300BC - 900BC) From Ancient Luristan Warfare.This Rare Luristan Bronze Arrowhead Has A Large Elongated Triangular Blade And Raised Midrib, Sharp Central Groove, Rectangular Section Stem With Handle For The Shaft And Barbed Shoulders. Artifacts Such As This Are Rarely Found Outside Of Public Museums And Collections.
  • This Arrowhead Appears To Belong To The Type V, Subcategory Types A And C According To The Classification Of Khorasani And Negahban. In The Four Categories Of Triangular Bronze Arrowheads From Luristan, Marlik And Northern Iran Individuated By Negahban, Subtypes A And C Of Type V Are Larger Arrow Heads With Barbed Shoulders And Triangular Heads. These Types Of Arrowheads Were Commonly Used In Anatolia And Mesopotamia From The 2nd Millennium B.C., But Apparently Their Employment Began Earlier In This Area, Where Types Like This Occur Alongside The Non-Barbed, Predominantly Ribbed And Tanged Types.
  • Luristan Bronzes (Rarely ``Lorestan``, ``Lorestani`` In Sources In English) Are Cast Objects Decorated With Bronze Sculpture From The Early Iron Age Which Have Been Found In Lorestan Province And Kermanshah In Western Iran. They Include Ornaments, Tools, Weapons, Horse-fittings And A Smaller Number Of Vessels And Those Found In Recorded Excavations Are Generally Found In Burials. The Ethnicity Of The People Who Created Them Remains Unclear, Though They May Well Have Been Iranian, Possibly Related To The Modern Lur People Who Have Given Their Name To The Area.
