Reference 5396 is the definitive modern Patek annual calendar and one of the most commercially successful complications the manufacture has produced since introducing the annual calendar in 1996. The mechanism distinguishes 30- and 31-day months automatically, requiring correction only once a year at the end of February.
Calibre 324 S QA LU 24H/303 is a self-winding movement of 347 parts with a Gyromax balance and 21k gold central rotor, delivering roughly 45 hours of power reserve and carrying the Patek Philippe Seal. Visible in full through the sapphire display caseback.
The dial layout is the reason this reference endures: twin day and month apertures at 12, date at 6, and a combined 24-hour and moon phase subdial, arranged with the symmetry of mid-century Patek design rather than the clutter that usually accompanies this much information. Silvery opaline finish with applied faceted obus markers and dauphine hands in rose gold.
Excellent pre-owned condition: rose gold case with crisp, unpolished-looking edges and sharp lug definition, dial free of marks or moisture damage, apertures aligning cleanly, movement running and calendar advancing correctly.
