In 1838 Walter Thomson, with wife Jane, arrived in Australia and established a winemaking tradition.

Faithful to his approach, this Private Selection was carefully made in the classic Australian style. The

high altitude northern range of the cool and picturesque Clare Valley provides finesse and delicate

power to our mature vines.

The 2021 vintage experienced a gentle ripening period, resulting

in an elegance and purity of fruit characters. The Clare Valley

vineyard has sandy loam combined with some clay overlying

alluvial sedimentary rocks, providing a source of moisture and

minerals to the vines as fruit develops. This culminates in a wine

of profound richness and flavor, exuding a robust and layered

profile with remarkable depth and palate length.
