The 2001 Morris Rutherglen Durif is a mature, complex red showing rich, dark fruit (plum, black cherry, cassis) mingling with earthy notes, tobacco, chocolate, leather, and hints of spice (clove) and smoke, developing into a luscious, integrated, and drier finish with pleasant tannins, offering a traditional, well-aged Australian red experience with good acidity and depth, even over two decades old.

Key Tasting Notes:

Fruit: Dark berries, plum, black cherry, cassis, raisins.

Spice/Earthy: Tobacco, chocolate, leather, tar, smoke, clove, earthy notes, gum tree.

Palate: Juicy, sweet initially but edges drier, integrated tannins, good acidity, rich, luscious, hints of treacle and tea.

Overall: A mature, well-made, traditional Australian red, rich and full-bodied, developing character over time, with a complex, balanced profile.
