1838 was the year Walter Thomson, with wife Jane, arrived in Australia and established awinemaking tradition. Faithful to his approach, our estate grown parcels are carefully tended byour vignerons to create wines of great intensity.Named after a landmark building beside the majestic River Murray in South Australia, theRiverland region has the greatest days of sunshine and a pristine climate for premium grapegrowing on our limestone soils.On the banks of the river Murray lay our Shiraz vineyards, grown in ancient limestone soils.This region has warm days with cool nights which gives vibrancy and intensity to the fruitflavours. Enjoy now or keep for up to eight years with careful cellaring.WINEMAKINGThe 2022 vineyard growing conditions were mild, and cooler than average, beginning withSeptember rainfalls and continuing with favourable weather throughout the growing seasonallowing the fruit to evenly mature with balanced ripening.Shiraz was sourced and selected from our estate vineyard and harvested at optimum maturitythen crushed, destemmed and fermented.Pumped over twice daily in temperature controlledopen top fermenters, the Shiraz was matured for 12 months with selected Oak.
