Traditionale always makes a terrific drink upon release, but 5 -7 years in the cellar will amply reward those who like their Rieslings with some bottle age. Drink with any seafood or white meat (of course), but it does work admirably with gruyere cheese too.

Winery Tasting Notes

Pikes Traditionale Riesling again displays the clarity and purity found in only the finest Clare Valley Riesling. Opening with classic aromas of lime, lemon and fresh cut apple, the palate is approachable with the ripe, fleshy Meyer Lemon, some classic Pikes lime cordial notes and touch of peach confectionary. Whilst generous, the bright acid line coils around the expressive palate allowing the pristine free-run juice and chalky minerality to shine. Another brilliant Pikes Riesling release that will please the many fans of this wine.

Winery Profile

Pikes Vintners is an iconic family owned and operated winery set amongst the hills and valleys of South Australia's beautiful Clare Valley.

Established in 1984 the winery and vineyards are situated in the historic and picturesque Polish Hill River sub region on the eastern side of the Clare Valley. The climate in this area is cooler and the soils are quite different compared to the rest of the region, imparting distinctive flavours and aromas to the wines.

Pikes is best known for its world class Riesling, but is becoming increasingly recognized for high quality, elegant red wines and their ever popular Sauvignon Blanc Semillon blend. Pikes have also been a leader in planting new and alternative varieties to the district including Sangiovese, Pinot Grigio and Viognier. Pikes also produces Pikes Oakbank- a sparkling Pilsener style beer.

The distinctive English Pike fish appears on all Pikes products.
